Kid's Craft Time: How Lillian Helped Create Origami Foxes!

MTE Staff

This week, the Explorium’s Craft of the Week got a special touch from an extraordinary young mind. Lillian, with her love for origami and flair for teaching, brought the adorable origami fox project to life!

How It Started

During a recent visit to the Explorium, Lillian suggested an origami craft. Her enthusiasm and folding skills impressed the staff, who invited her to help design the next project. She chose a playful, beginner-friendly origami fox

Crafting the Fox

Lillian collaborated with staff to create simple instructions and colorful, step-by-step guides. She tested the craft with family and friends, refining it until it was perfect. Thanks to her effort, the Explorium had a polished kit ready for launch.

Teaching the Craft

Lillian’s hard work caught the attention of fellow visitors, who were inspired by her patient instruction and enthusiasm to make foxes of their own. We may have a future teacher in our midst—thank you, Lillian!

  • Pencil

  • White Paper

Fun Facts:

    • Red Fox and Gray Fox

  • Did you know?

    • Foxes can make over 40 different sounds, from barks and screams to chirps!

Mountain Top Milestone:

  • Folding paper requires precision and control, helping to strengthen small hand muscles and improve hand-eye coordination.

Directions:

  1. Fold sheet of paper across to make a square

  2. Cut extra paper off

  3. Fold long ends of the triangle into the center to form a diamond shape

  4. Now unfold the ends of the triangle and bend them backwards leaving a little fold to give the ears  a 3D shape

  5. Next tape down the extra paper between the ears and the edges of the ears to the back of the head

  6. On the opposite side, color your fox!

Hide and squeak!
